Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Little Learners (referred to as "we", "our", or the "Service") respects the privacy of every family who uses our app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.
We designed this service to be parent-mediated, which means parents create and manage all accounts, and children never sign up or interact with us directly outside the practice activities.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us directly
- Parent account info: email address, name, password (encrypted), payment method (handled by Stripe, never stored on our servers)
- Child profile info: first name or nickname, avatar selection, grade level, optional birth month
- Communications you send us, including support emails
2.2 Information collected automatically through use
- Practice activity data: questions attempted, answers given, hints used, time spent per session
- Device and technical data: browser type, operating system, screen size, IP address (truncated for privacy)
- Performance and error logs needed to keep the service running
2.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect precise location data
- We do not collect photographs, video or audio of children
- We do not access device microphone, camera or contacts
- We do not collect information from third-party social networks
3. Children's privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)
Little Learners is designed for children under 13 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and equivalent provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area.
3.1 Parental consent
We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from a child. A parent or legal guardian must create the family account, agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, and may add child profiles only after that consent is given.
3.2 What we collect from children
From child profiles, we collect only what is necessary for the educational service to function: profile name or nickname, avatar choice, grade level, and the practice activity data described in Section 2.2.
3.3 Parent rights to review, modify and delete
- You may review the information collected from your child at any time through the Parents Corner
- You may delete a child profile, and all associated practice data, at any time
- You may request a downloadable copy of your child's data by emailing us
- You may revoke consent at any time, which will result in deletion of the child profile
3.4 No behavioral advertising
We do not engage in behavioral advertising, profiling, or targeted marketing toward children. We do not display any advertising in the service.
4. How we use information
We use the information we collect only for these specific purposes:
- To deliver the practice content and adapt difficulty over time
- To show parents progress reports in the Parents Corner
- To process subscription payments through our payment processor (Stripe)
- To communicate important account information, such as billing or service changes
- To improve question quality and identify content that needs revision
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud or abuse
We do not use information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing this educational service.
6. Parent and user rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including:
- The right to access the information we hold about you and your child
- The right to correct inaccurate information
- The right to delete your account and all associated data
- The right to data portability (a copy of your data in machine-readable form)
- The right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority
7. Data security
We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted database storage, hashed passwords, restricted internal access, and regular security review.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you within the time required by applicable law.
8. Data retention
We retain account and practice data while your subscription is active. If you cancel and do not return within 12 months, we delete or anonymize child profiles and their associated practice data. Billing records are kept for as long as required by tax and financial regulations.
9. International users
Little Learners is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the US, your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States. By using the service, you consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and post the updated policy here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
